Speed problems, Help :(

Post by Syn »

Hi i have a 1.4 corsa sport 96/97

i started noticin some gear changing problems when i was givin a mate of mine a lil funny drag race, soon as i hit 5k+ revs it doesnt kick forward on the gear change like his corsa, mine more makes a slow groaning noise and struggles to bump the car into 2nd gear fast. i drove his car afterwards and the gear changing from 1,2 to 3 were alot quicker and had the extra boost on the double clutch,

Anyone got any advice on why its doing this?

Cheers

what is the clutch like pulling away?

im not sure exactly what the problem is here, but dosnt sound like the clutch to me.
usualy your if your clutch slips then you would notise and increase in engine noise, whithout an increase in speed.
like your reving it in netral.

id say if anything it will be related but more likely to be a gearbox problem rather than a clutch one.

Have you been thrashing the car about for a long time?

To me sounds like the teeth on the syncro's have worn away and are now not gripping properly when you are driving the car hard.

Gearbox rebuild and new clutch is whats needed to me mate can be expensive.
