ignition key replacement help

Help i have snapped the ing key in the door :shock: i have spare but would like another just in case,rang vauxhall up and nearly dropped on the floor.they want £20.00+vat for car pass,£29.70+vat,for key,£14.00+vat to code it f***me :( is there a cheaper way to get a spare key.i have a corsa b 1.0 no central locking 1998.any advise would be welcome.

I had mine done at a key cutting shop in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire cost me £40 (link below) but prolly no where near you.

It costs so much because they have to clone the electronic chip inside the old key and register onto the new key/chip.

Ring round a few key cutting shops near you and just ask if they do key cuts for cars.

just try ringing a bunch of local key cutters listed in yellow pages. Most are able to copy/cut a key for you but it wont be coded. so if u try to use that reproduced key to get another cut the key smiths will reject it as not coded. Lot cheaper this way. Keep the coded key safe and use the cheaper none replicable one for day to day use.
