Hi every1, this is my first post on this site so go easy on me (great site btw)
Anyway, i have just test drove a 2000 x reg corsa 1.2 16vwith 54k miles on it and the throttle seams very stiff (responsive past a certain point but not having an effect up until this point. My dad also drove the car and had the same issue. Is this normal? Ive heard about it on the 1.0 litre cars but the 1.2s dont seem to be affected much? If it isnt normal what can be done about it? I aint a mechanic so unless its really simple i cant do it so im looking at a price to get thisa sorted in a garage?
Any help would be much appreciated as its otherwise a great, cheap car that id love 2 buy

Re: Stiff throttle pedal???
i never really noticed it with my car - but it is my first
but when my brother had a shot (he has a saxo ) said that it was really stiff for an accelerator (omg i cant spell that ) and he said pray it with some accerlerator oil on it not sure what that is or what it does lol
but you could try that if you dont like the stiffness or just get use to it
mines is a X reg corsa to buts it a 1l

Re: Stiff throttle pedal???
Im sure they have got a cable and not fly by wire, so sounds to me like the cable is partly seized or kinked. Try a bit of WD40 etc on both ends of the cable if not replace the cable. Cost no more than £15-20, labour around half an hour.

Re: Stiff throttle pedal???
yeah my 1.6 has quite a stiff throttle. only bought it like 2 months ago. but it's been fine, i've totally gotten used to it. But i did hear that if you dont do anything about it, it can stick. as in you might be flooring it then you take your foot off to brake but it just stays there and keeps accelerating!! so i better get mine sorted too, i totally forgot about that...

Re: Stiff throttle pedal???
yeh same problem, ive fixed it kind of with a wd40 can on both ends of cable cause it was sticking and like the other person said at an earlier post it keeps on accelerating !!!
mine is still stiff ut it no longer sticks anymore which is the main thing i dont want to run into any
mines only a 1.0 though and ive had alot of problems with it
but ive drove a few corsas and they all seem to have stiff accelerators
