Does anyone know if it's possible to change the ECU only and not the Transponder Chip reader that goes round then ignition barral. Therefor not having to change the chips in the keys? Or is every Transponder reader tied down to the ECU and will only ever work with that one ECU?
Cheers.

to be honest i dont no but id say ull have to get the job lot done seen as if u change the ECU it will have a different preset code inside the unit and then u wont have any response from the ur computer when trying to start so ineviabilty it wont start or respond to anythin. but if u give it a go let me know if it works

Re: 1.0 12V ECU & Transponder Chip Reader Question
u can change just the ECU but u will have to have it remapped so it programmed to respond correctly to the transponder ring reading the chip in the key. If u dont u'll get ECU light flashin and u wont be able to start the car cos the immobiliser will kick in.
