lowering!!

hay i am going to be lowering my sxi in the near future and am wondering whats the best option 40mm or 60mm i dont want to make a big mistake of buying 60mm and finding out that my cars too low and is a job and half going over road bumpers and stuff.

could you please give me any advice thanks

personally id just drop it 40mm..it looks nice and it pretty practical..plus if ur gonna have people in ya car its gonna drop down a bit more anywayz.

Hello mate, there is a few things to think of before lowering, firstly your alloys. They look like wolfrace (or a simliar brand), this may cause a problem when lowering due to the offset (ET) of the wheels. If the offset is wrong for the car, they will sit further out in the arch, which looks good at a standard height but when you lower it, the wheels sometimes do not line up with the underside of the wheel arch (and cause damage to your car). So thats the first thing to look at the offset. As you may not be able to lower it 60mm anyway. The standard ET for a Corsa is around 49 (i beleive, someone please correct me if im wrong)

Second thing i would look at is your general route/drive, and if you carry passenger (esp in the back). 60mm mixed with speed bumps/passengers in the rear and the wrong offset alloys will lead to serious damage to your car and your wallet.

those wheels are the complete wrong offset...look about 38ish. So if you are gonna do it...it will have to be 30-40mm.

I would sell those wheels and get a set closer to 49, so you wont have any worries when lowered.

allright m8 av had 3 corsas droped 60 mm and speed bumps aint a problem even with folk in the back but its on vaux wheels so the size and offset is perfect the only aftermarket wheels u usually get (correct me if wrong) is speedlines 16". the only problem u maye have if u lower it 60mm with the right rims is wen u got peeps in the back the join of the mid section and back box hit the rear axel and is extreamly annoying my advice get sum good rims

im thinking about getting my corsa lowered aswell i want to go for about 40mm with 15 inch alloy's what do ya think ?

depends what alloys u got richy m8 40mm is usually not to bad on the corsa but u still have to bare in mind the things mentioned above u lowering with just springs? or springs and shocks? or coilovers?

hey thanks for the reply i dont have the alloys yet i thought i would ask about it before i went a head and done it lol.
i was thinking just get springs but i have been told i should get shocks aswell.
as i could stiffen up the ride so the car doesnt bounce all over the show lol

also if i lower the car and get the springs stiffened up would it make my car stick to the road better ?

yea, always get a kit. Just putting springs on just destroys the suspension harmonics and any lower than 30mm, you are scuppered. For maximum effectivness, you want a full kit that you can trust.

Also, remember that you then need good tyres, as there is gonna be more stress on them to hold the road through bends. Ultimately, they are what keep you on the road.
