personally i wouldnt gor for wide arch kit unless u puttin on a bodykit of sum sort-and seei nas u said u want it faster-addin things like that only gonna add weight-and therefore slow u down lol.

for a faster 1.2 id say jus keep it subtle and light,u can make it slightly faster without payin a penny-strip the inside out lol,i know its a big thing-and i wanna do it to mine but my gf wont let me :( and also dont start fittin big sound system etc.

but too be honest there aint much u can do to make a 1.2 faster on a low budget,u can do few cheap thingslike induction kit, decent exhaust-but like i got told,u can spend thousands tryin to make it faster.speed ent everyfin to me tho, gotta b about the look and sound of the car :)

Hey i have a little 1.2 myself, but im guna keep my subtle but lookin half decent if i can!
Lower it, exhaust, induction kit, a set of nice wheels (cavalier gsi wheels are popular on corsa's, its what im getting for mine but their gettin rare)
As for an engine change, personally i wudnt bother with it coz it just takes SO long to do! My mate had a 1ltr corsa an its taken him way over 2year to change it to a 2ltr!
But having said that, i have considered a 2ltr turbo lump myself. with a engine like that on a car with barely any weight it wud fly and eat scoobies all day long!!!

it not so much the changing the engine thats the problem. U can get 1.6i that fit corsa with a premade conversion kit thats technically pretty simple to do. But ti the cost...and if u put in a bigger engine u will need to consider gettin new/second hand (but bigger) brake discs, calipers, brake pads etc. Along with bigger oil and fuel lines and probs radiator and exhaust. Otherwise the engine wont be able to reach it full potential and if u dont do brakes upgrade then u just askin to run off the road! Oh yeah...and u'll need to get a new ECU chip and remapping so u can still use the immobiliser.
So basically gettin a bigger engine isn't just gettin a bigger engine and so costs quite a bit. Might aswell look at finding a corsa on modded car auctions thats already had the conversion.

Jese thats sounds like hard work but im gettin a 1.4 sri engine that drops staright in my lads mate is doin it, gettin it 4 £50, hes done loads of engine changes n it takes him a day so that aint a problem, so wud all that aply to a 1.4 16v if im upgradin frm a 1.2 cos i was told by a few ppl the brakes dnt matta, the ecu comes with the engine and the exaust aint standard n it dnt hav a cat . . . ?????? xx cheers :D

i guess u should be okay with ur brakes, but they will deffo wear faster if u drivin the car faster, more aggresively and have consequently to break harder more often. The engine isnt much heavier than the 1.2 so shouldnt affect the braking distance to badly if at all either. As for the ECU, one should come with the engine but if u wanna keep the immobiliser active u will need to get it reprogrammed/remapped. Otherwise u will have an inactive factory immobiliser which u should really delcare on insurace if it currently down as being there and workin and being used.
But i guess u could always buy a cheap aftermarket alarm that has internal sonar pulse scanning. That way if any1 enters the car without turning it off the alarm will go off...but they could still potentially steal the car alot easier cos of no immibiliser being there. Just drill the barrel and turn with a screwdriver to start the car. It up to u really, just depends on where u live and where u keep ur car. I live in hull and theres plenty of car crime up here...and unfortunatley corsas are the second favourite car to steal; pre 96 micras being the favourite cos no immobilser at all, although im not sure on how nissan got by the DVLA 1994 policy on all petrol cars havin factory immobiliser standard. then 1995 for diesels to have factory immobilisers. Anyways....if ur gettin it done on the cheap then it gotta be done.

Im pretty sure all corsa b's have th eimmobiliser fitted as standard. If it got the transponder ring around the barrel then it has one. Another way u can see is if u split ur key open with a screwriver in the little tab dip on the top of the key. Just put flathead into the tab twist it and the plastic bit will open...just a push, click fitment so wont break it. Then in one side in one corner there is a little plastic piece of plastic..be careful not to loose it when opening the key if it is in there. If this is in the key just tap the key to get it out and try startin ur car with the key without the immobiliser chip in it...if u car flashes engine management light and wont start u have an active working immobiliser system in the car. Im pretty sure that the ECU, trasponder ring and immobiliser chip are linked to each other. Like the ECU regulates what the transponder knows -which chip to accept with the key to start the car- the transponder reads the chip and the chip is in the key which is regulated by the ignition barrel pins. There are workarounds but most result in the disabling of ur immobiliser system, or mean u have to fork out on reprogramming. Either way if this guy says he can put in a new engine for u i guess he knows whats hes doin, but ask about the ECU, immobiliser etc just to clarify.

yeah, they will most likely fail ur car, springs will not damage ur shocks, but ride wont be great, springs and shocks on ebay bout £130, and to avoid the de-cat failure, keep ur cat, and just make a new pipe for a replacement cat, ur proper cat is then useful in such cases as MOT. ;)
