1.0L 12v to 1.6L 16v

Post by karaya1 »

hi guys just need a little help and advice,is it just a matter of taking out the old 1.0L 12v engine and replacing it with the 1.6 16v engine.how much of a change would the wiring need and also any other bits e.g steering radiator etc , i know a lot of you guys are gonna say "just buy 1.6 16v" or "stick a red top in" but my little 12valver is immaculate the paintwork is spot on and i love the colour( satin red i think it is) so please humour me.

thanks guys

steve

Adam-D knows pretty well what parts will be needed. I've notified him of the topic :)

here i am to save the day,,,,

right do you have epas? if you do then that makes it simpler.
if you have normal pas then you have to use the pump from a 1600. and get the assiated driverside mount

as for the rest the gearbox, and mounts stay the same.
the fuel pump stays the same,

you will need a 1600 radiator and pipes just to make life easy'r really

the fuel pipe are most likely long enuff so they can stay the same,

the only reallly tricky bit, the ecu, you will have to make some connections in/from the bay,"where your current ecu is" to the 9pin plug where the new ecu will live "drivers kick panel" --match colour for colour--
and use the 1600 starting and charging loom
and thats about it

the plan is to get a stolen recovered or accident damaged one so the two cars are side by side then it should be just a matter of swapping from one to the other
