Induction kit

Post by Root »

Just bought a Universal-fit, Pipercross Viper induction kit for my 1.2 8v corsa. I know it will barely touch performance at all but I hoped it would make a nice grunt and look nice in the bay. I was on youtube looking at other videos of people with these kits and a comment on one video said that if you have a carb engine, you will barely hear any sound difference, is this correct? Hope I havn't wasted £60. :(

Or is it the case that I will hear a difference, but it would be greater with an injection engine?
Anyway, thanks guys.

ps: yer I havn't fitted it yet :( I'm dying to but it's dark now

ok, thanks. I thought it was somebody being retarded not knowing what they was talking about. Glad to hear that's the case. Can't wait to hear it :) I know it's a little mod but it's an exciting thing to change your car & make it better.

got it done. sounds pretty meaty. <3 Already made the car backfire (only done this once before when driving like a tit, lol), due to driving at high revs showing it off (+changing gear very quickly), lol and ive only had it fitted less than an hour.

pics.

ya, its real carbon fibre, cost me £60 from halfrauds. I like it lots, makes my little 1.2 sound a little nicer in the high revs. Got a few head turns so far, hehe :D

I'm looking at getting some wolfrace alloys next for £60 too second-hand but the guy has someone going to see them soon...:( I want em

you've fitted it the wrong way round m8, the flexible pipe is supposed to be a cold feed from front of car.

with a 57i induction kit on a 1.2 engine, you will lose power than gain it, if you wanted a nice induction noise, you should of drilled your air box. also if you wanted some performance filter, you should of bought a K&N panel filter. what happens is your 57i kit is sucking in hot air from the engine, especially when stationary, so you will notice you will gain a flatspot when accelerating hard. your air box stops hot air being sucked into to the engine.

hot air = bad
cold air = good

thiers a realy good tutorial on how to cut your box and not lose any performance, and its free :D makes the same noise as your £60 toy

you might find it works better then and it shouldn't draw in any hot air as sealed with cold feed.

yeah I know what you mean dude. Just had a look at it and it's impossible to fit the other way round. The filter "bore" is too large for my cold air feed. So the phrase 'universally fits f**k all' suits this situation. I'm going to bodge it by cutting off some of the pipe, using it to make a tight seal from the filter to the cold air feed (just a small bit of pipe), then use the rest of pipe to draw in cold air. Think that's a good idea? Cheers
