lowering/ chassis
ive got a corsa b, just bought some astra gsi powder coated black perfectly new wheels for my car, makes a change from my luminous pink 1.4 sport wheels. putting pictures up soon but thats not the point, when i put my 15s on with 50 profile tyres i noticed that 1 side of my car was lower than the other and need some help to this problem, drivers side wheels are scraping arches while passenger sides are perfect.
my back springs have been cut in half but my front ones are proper lowering springs.
my suggestions were wether the drivers side damper is playing up or springs have been cut odd, ive been told car could be a bit bent due to the problem, any1 got any ideas it would really help me.
was going to highen car and buy 40mm springs for front coz redtop makes it drop anyway and buying 60 for the back, or buying new front dampers and lowering bk 60mm, HELP ASAP

sounds like the actual damper is buggerd to me, try pressing down hard on the drivers side n see it it *bounces*
if it does sounds like its your damper thats broken if it dosnt could be oddsize spring as opposed to the other side
and if nither of those maybe somthings bent out of shape

yeah...standard schock should "rebound" from a deep compression one and a half times before setteling. If it more or less or scapes a bit the absorber is knackered. Coul be that the front springs have leveld out over time from the weight.
I've read that u normally put em on then need the suspension adjusting so that the car sits level after a week or two once the springs have compressed and are worn in to a standard base level of compression, the car may dip more to one side than the other (tends to be drivers side cos of ur additionnal weight), not sure on the accuracy/validity of this though.

cheers dudes, ill check the damper tomorrow, how would i check if the damper is nakerd in any way and if the front shock is nakerd why would the back drivers side still be lower than the back passenger side, could be odd springs, but even if car was bent it wouldnt take that much effect for car to be bent front and back coz it dnt even look like its been in a crash, back rear axel is a tiny bit bent so that could be reason for back, just someone explain to me how i could tell front damper could be f**k plz, be alot of help coz im bit stuck now, only need to sort that probl;em for it to be a decent expensive and safe car

might sounds stupid but make sure u got the same wheel all round. i have two diffeent sets. the front wheels are slightly wider and higher than my rears. However, i was drivin round front ones on the drivers side front and rear, and rear ones on the passenger side. made the car taller on my side and have odd turning circles lol.

well if you are running cut springs...then the damper is no way in harmony with the spring. D dont understand why people do this coz you just destroy the harmonics of the suspension.
You are overworking the damper and so it will, over time ... cease to function as it should. I would get yourself a decent spring kit...and when you change them over...check the dampers for leaking anf manual rebound.

was going to check if same space between wheel on arch on each side coz rear axel being bent is causing one of the wheels to sit bit outwards then other ones in the arch properly so ill check that and check front damper, if its not that it cud be the car being bent or just going to get a new sring set and suspension, wat u reckon

hah had a friend who wanted his rover 214 lowering so out came the angle grinder, cut the springs clean in half
looked really nice and low but it handled like a dog and eventualy just died the whole chassie was just knackerd!

right ive found reason for the back yesteray, because rear axel is bit bent it is causing one wheel to sit in the arch properly and the other wheel where its bent near is sitting a bit outwards which is sitting on plastic round arch, i took of both front shocks yesterday and checked compression and they are both well accept for at the top of the shock where it sits in the cup at the top, one of shocks is flush when fitted in with the strut and one is raised a bit which it is supposed to be , so the shock thats flush does that mean its shrunk a bit somehow or nakerd, just going to buy new front shocks and change rear axel, wat u reckon

id get the rear axel fixed replaced or whootever and then do the suspention too, chances are if somthings been bent putting extra stress on one damper possibly worn it out quicker

JUST WONDERING I HAVE JUST LOWERED MY CAR 40MM AND IM GETTING RUBBING ON MY 15" ALLOYS
WHY WILL THIS BE.
THE SIZE OF THE TYRES ARE 195/50/R15.

well my one has 60mm lowering springs on and cut in half to make it 120mm but they were perfect on 14s now they are on 15s fanblades the car dnt even move coz its scraping lol
