I've recently noticed my 1.0 when idling is making a more noticeable tapping sound. I really first noticed is when coming to an stop after a 40min motorway journey. Now it seems to do it ever since.
I've searched through some previous posts but not for the same engine. Possible the tappets? Is it possible that the oil pump is not working and is there a easy way of finding this out?
Think gunna get local garage to have a look.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers.

I've had this ever since i've had my car and it does it even when i'm driving.
I was told it was the tappets causing it.
If you get it checked out and fixed let me know what they do, how much it cost etc.

yh sounds like tappets (hydraulic lifters), sumtimes thicker oil can stop them from making a noise or try some STP oil treatment, usually a sign of a worn engine, they aint too bad to replace, i had mine done on my 1.4spi and it cost £90 for labour and parts.

Check the oil 1st off, no oil in the engine WILL make it rattle like a fooker. Also check for no leaks, oil pressure switchs are common as fook for leaking. 10w 40 oil btw.

O_o that, get urself a vice n some brake cleaner, put ur tappits in the vice one by one, brake cleaner on the tappit, and gently close the vice and open it a few times on each tappit, refit...job done.

Hi again
thanks for all your replys...
Just to add there is plenty of oil in and am using the correct stuff. I've noticed is only seems to be noticeable when the engine is at operating temp.
I'm almost certain that my engine isn't worn either as my engine doesn't seem to be burning much oil at all so that is a good thing???
Anyways no big deal only a noise, could be worse.
thanks agian.
