head sctatching with a 16v sri
righto then ive not long bought a 1.4 16v sri on an m reg to build into a road rally car it goes really well but 2 things are buggin me so answers on a post card please !
firstly it keeps blowing fuse no 1 for the hazards ,horn etc any ideas ? secondly like i said it goes really well but after driving it today the em light came on and stayed on no loss in perfomance at all still hits the limiter fine ! i know the muppet who owned it before cut the wires from the rad fan switch but thats wired to a switch on the dash could this put the light on and could that also stop the temp guage working as im not sure if it does !
thanks for looking

YEA the radiator fan will be causing the engine light to come on
as it tryed to turn the fan on and cant, because its on a manual switch so assumes its broken and puts the warnign light on
im guessing he has faulty thermostat so it wasnt turning the fan on so he bypassed it to a manual switch
wont affect your car too much really just annoying with the light comming on
not sure on the hazards m8, you sure you had the correct ampage fuse in it? ether that or you have a short someware or some bare wires touching.

Right as you said 12 is start and ending of diagnostic.
85 Imobilizer control module incorrect signal
92 Camshaft position sensor incorrect signal
93 ECM circuit malfunction

Re: head sctatching with a 16v sri
quad driver modual is just somthing that controls 4 seprate circuts
most likely its because of of the cooling fan problem looking about forums most people say they experience this if having problems with themostat or radiator fan faults so id say it was that

Re: head sctatching with a 16v sri
well ive not done anything to it but the light has not come on for a couple of days now not that i think its cured ! i think is acyually the cam sensor causing the problems did some testing at the weekend and managed to replicate the fault ( i think ) so i need to get a new cam sensor to start with then go from there !

Re: head sctatching with a 16v sri
my EM light came on all the time wen the car wheels spun or jurked and it was a plug that sits in front of the battery wen it gets a nok it disconects couseing the EM light to come on a bit of black nasty sorted that. mines is the 1.6 16v ecoshed so not sure if the 1.4 16v eco is the same but am sure it is so try that as well
