i rememba the 2008 sunseeker rally in bournemouth..one of the evos broke down-and had to get back to the service station-so they had a 4x4 pushin it from behind..and it overtook us and got flashed by speed camera lol...thats gotta be dodgy lol

a mate of mine has had 99mph in his 1.2 16v sxi, he is mortified that it won't do 100
its only done 67k so why could this be? just been hammered?

has he got a big sound system?or body kit ? or did he have lots of people in the car? or a loaded boot? anything that would add alot of weight to the car obvs slow it right down.

102 in a stock corsa and that was off a gps speedo not the dial. Has anyone ever compared gps with the real thing? I dont know if its just my car, but when my speedo says im at 70 the gps says 65. Generally my speedo seems to be about 8-10% out at all speeds.

i wouldnt say gps speedos are than accurate after all it has to send a signal to a satellite 12,550 miles in to space and then the satellite has to send the signal back to your gps reciver which takes time!
better sticking to your in car speedo especialy when it comes to the buisiness of speedcameras lol

tend to find the faster you go you speedo will be less accurate especialy if you have bigger wheels than standard

actually gps units are more accurate than speedos, they just lag about half a second behind real time, but if you are at a constant speed that doesn't matter

i used to own a Corsa 1.0 12V for my first car and i had it doing 105 mph on the motor engine didnt sound too healthly going that fast tho lol

btw with speedos going wrong, i study mechanics, and if you have wheels to big to what the car is meant to have 15" on a corsa, the speedo will be inaccurate, this is also illegal!!!!!

i have the stock wheels, so the wheels are not too big

im a mechanic and my old training officer who used to be a meccy in the army told me that if the police ever pull you for speeding and u got alloys on n poo, then u can ask the police to check your calibration of the speedo! and if they cant do it there and then, then apparently they cant do nothing, if they do do it and it shows to be out, then u can use this in court or some crap like that, anyone else heard of that?

^but if your speedo was out, then that would mean that your wheels were not the same diameter to the stock wheels, which is also illegal^ so either way, they get something to do you for.

true dat, but i heard if u say the calibration thing, they usually just leave it from there and dont even charge. talking about technicalities, my mate knows this guy that was driving an evo at about 150mph along the road between stonehaven and aberdeen. the police got a photo of him going past, and in the photo the car was actually completely off the ground. so in court the evo guy had a good lawyer who said to the judge "the police report said the defendant was doing 150mph on the stonehaven road. technically the report is false because he wasnt doing 150mph ON the stonehaven road (he wasnt touching the road)" and he got away with it!!

hey, i drive a 1997 1.0 12v corsa, ive had 105mph, its chipped with straight thru pipe. probs could gt more out of it tho.lol
