Major alloy wheel fitting prob! (Now with accompanying pictu
right then guys and gals. I've taken some pictures of one of the front's that has currently got alloys with an et38 offset on them. Here is the pictures of it first raised in the air (bolts fully tightened) and then on the floor again fully tightened! Hopefully from these pictures you can see the problem i have got trying to fit my et49 offset alloys and why only 5mm spacers aren't working on them!

Now when lowered back onto floor!
Also just a small question while looking at the pictures. On my coilovrs i have the big spring and the smaller spring. Which way round should they be fitted as i currently have the smaller spring on top.

i think from what you describe they are helper springs not sure really if it matters about above or bellow there just to stop spring slap when there is no weight on the suspension and what i wrote before i meant ive had novas for years before the move to this corsa and putting spacers on like that shags the bearings i know find the real problem if you can before you do it

I went to vauxhall themselves today and asked about camber adjustment. They told me they don't do the camber kits and their's nothing on the corsa to adjust without the bolt on kit. He also said it's only ever so slightly out which wouldn't make a difference. Where could i get the camber adjusted? and how much roughly does it cost?
I've had a thought which might be affecting it. Before i had my car it had been in an accident on the front drivers side and had a replacement wing and mirror, bonnet was straightened down edge and the wing inner panel you can see is bent back to shape.
I haven't had chance to take a photo of the otherside to compare but using my finger the gap seems bigger on the passenger side. So could the accident of caused damage resulting in the wheel being closer to the coilover?
If so what could of happened and is it something that could be fixed by myself? I know it's difficult without seeing it but any ideas are useful for me to check!

get the tape measure out bud, also check the bottom ball joints early and late corsa are different i think im sure its probably something silly, but the accident damage could be a part of it. what top mounts have you got are they standard ones or eccentric type competition ones ?

they bolt on the top of the strutt and then bolt to the body

sounds to me as if u have got to wide wheels mate and camber aint really an issue wen u have only a 40mm drop ma corsas dorped 60mm on the right offset wheels and av no probs except camber issues insides of the tyers on the front dont last long at all u can get camber adjustment bolts from demon tweeks u might also get the wheel spacers ur after ther to if they aint there fone em they might still b able to get them 4 u bud

Well, it seems to me like coilovers are the bad move! The helper springs ideally need to be on the bottom, but it wont make any difference to the fitting.
I would get yourself a decent fixed-rate set-up, and then you wont have any problems as the spring seat will be above the tyre and you will have a heap load of room
I can see the problem, but i wouldnt go with spacers...it seems that corsa coilovers are just crap and cause too many problems to be worth it! ...
eibach do a camber adjustment kit...but iv heard its a bugger to fit.

the kit aint hard to fit and its only 18 qwid from demon tweeks u just need to get ur canmer sorted after fitting or if ur brainy and patiant u can do it ya self took me a good few hours but got it done aventualy a lot of on and off with the wheel and up and down with the jack lol

Ok a little update on my wheel situation!

This gives me the impression that when it had the accident (b4 i had it) something has been bent or pushed in on the drivers side. Now when i put it on full lock you can hear it rubbing on the inner arch actually the inside inner arch bit behind the strut!
Does anybody have any ideas what could be the culprit?? I have taken measurements from the chassis to disc etc on both sides and their is a difference of sometimes 5mm at other points 25mm.

i once bent my wheel hub (cast iorn part witch suposidly cant b bent) when i beltted a cirb ha ha and it made my wheel camber big time try puting a set of steel wheels on it both sides and and drop it and see if there is a diffrence in camber on the wheels if so try a diffrent hub
