Alternator power output and power consumption

Post by jar_jar89 »

do you think the corsa alternator produces enough power for three 800watt subs, pair of 450watt 6x9's, pair of 6.5" 250watt door speakers, 4x180watt tweeters and 2x 200watt tweeters? i already got all of that in excet two of the 800watt subs and the 200watt tweeters. Starts first time everytime, but wondering if the extra strain will push it past its limits. Im pretty sure i got a 55amp bosch alternator. can i just uprate it to like 100amp easily or would i have to take it to garage? im pretty technical minded but neva done it before. also....can u just power amps in series like one from another or would i best be advised to get a distribution block (and power cap if dont uprate alternator)? I will also be putting in a stand alone EQ aswell at some point so i can do fine adjustments to the audio levels. Sorry if this menna be in audio/ice forum.

if you power amps in series then the chances are there would be too much current draw and your wires would melt, unless you are running at 0guage. also there would be a large amount of noise,
Disribution blocks exist for a reason!

I don't think so.

I have:
2x60rms JBL speakers
Alpine amplifier @ 550w
Hertz subwoofer @ 700w

When I have it playing with the engine on, the headlights dim (I need a powercap)
so I think that you trying to run a setup like that on the corsa is impossible, you really do need to look at getting another battery for that kind of power. o_o

ofc, ask a specialist to be certain.

lol..im already running a high performance lead calcium battery so i can play my music as loud as i want and and do so for hours on end on long night time drives and the headlights neva dim or bass notes drop in quailty. I've got the original battery spare but it a bit grubby so dont wanna use it really. I rekon with a the power cap i would need would cost near the same as gettin 70amp alternator install at a garage, then all i will do is run 4gauge wire to distribution block then to the two amps and the EQ? u think ide be safe to do that? or would i still need a cap and maybe a 2nd battery?
