fuel gauge fault

Post by bowie »

hello does anybody know if a corsa 1.0 gls ,has a sender unit,or does it have a fuel pump with the sender built in.my problem is the fuel gauge reads full all the times when you switching off it goes down but when you switching on it reads full when it is not as i have ran out of petrol once,is this a sender unit fault or a voltage regulator fault behind the dash, also do you get to it from under the car or under the back seat the sender unit how do i check it.

cheers john

it will be the sender unit in the tank usualy if the voltage regulator had gone you would see the gauge going up and down the harder u accelrate
the voltage regulator for the petrol gauge is actualy on the back of the speedometer

yeah and the sender unit is attached to the fuel pump in the top of your petrol tank.you can get to it by lifting up your rear seat pull the carpet back and ull see a big black round plastic cover remove that and ull see 8) just undo the bolts an liftout. i hate doing them cos i carnt get my hands in after when im trying to refit it so takes me ages  im happy now thow cos iv got an external pump underneath :D

my SRI is the same lol, my clocks are nackerd anyway but still its just on the corsa`s, i brake hard and i got a full tank and if i pull off hard i got a empy tank lol, u can separat the both and u can buy just the sender unit, i think its something like £15-£20 for VX
