Post by deadliner »

yes i have lexus lights but i want to switch them back to standard, so your talking about the plug that connects to the lighting panel where all the bulbs are on in the back of the light? it seems on properly to me, would this cause the number plate light to go out as well if it wasnt connected properly though?

Otherwise check the condition and connections for the actual switch. Remove the gaiter from the knob and its down on the left hand side i think.

yea thats the plug i mean and your right it shouldnt affect the numberplate light.... that said im guessing it is connected to the rear lights somwhere as it has to come on when you swich your lights on so its possible its on the same circut as your rear lights, so if the plugs are loose, its possble it could affect it.
if its all tight up make sure the pins arnt dirty or rusty, if still nothing check the bulbs make sure none are blown as a blown bulb could also affect the circut
if the plug is connected properly check the bulbs are in properly, they may go off if the bulbs arnt in the holder propely.

could also try checking the rear numberplate light with a multimeter see if power is getting to it. and check the bulb make sure its not on its way out.

again worth checking but i wouldnt have thought tapping the rear bumper would turn it on again as the swich is nowhere near lol
but well said is worth checking out.

connectors seem fine. is it possible that water has got in somewhere and made it stop working?

1st replace the number plate light bulb, so you know/if that works and it not a coincidence with the reverse lights. Then put the car in reverse with the ignition on and remove the rear light clusters, see if the flicker when your removing, paying particular attention to the wiring joiner that goes onto the cluster.
