Standard Suspension So Low

Post by dannicoll »

My standard corsa sits really low at the back end and just want someone else' s advice and what to do.

I'm would like to in time to fit some 15" alloys but have had some tried on before and the car body sits milimeters away from the tyre so can't leave them on or they'll rub away each other.

I'm wanting to put the car right to it's standard hight again (not lowered) but am unsure on what to replace. (Shockers or Springs? Both?)

Any advice would be great. Thank You.

have a look under the car if you have coloured springs and dampers chances are its been lowerd if not it could be the dampers are broken.
dont forget those tyres will be alot thicker that ones fitted to alloys
chances are its fine just looks low cus of the thick tyres

The springs are black along with the dampers.

When I first bought the car over a year ago when rolling over speed bumps slowly there was a sqeeking sound coming from the rear end but has since stopped now. Could this be related?

I'm 100% sure theres summat wrong with my rear suspension as my mother has same car and when parked together there is a big difference in the ride hight.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it ;)

Dan.

Have a look at your rear coil springs. By the look at the way its sat i'd say there is a good chance there broken.

Jack the car on the rear sill area (to let the rear suspension hang) you should quite easily see if there broken or not.

Looks to me like the suspension has collapsed, either one or both components. Either way you need new suspension. You will pay as much for new standard items as you will for lowering kits.

Unless you get em from the scrappy. But if you are intending to put alloys on it, i would look for a lowering kit, else it will look like a roller skate and so, bloody awful!
