Car Battery

Post by thebutler »

Hi Peeps

Im having problems with my battery theres something in my car that keeps on draining it, nothing is left on over night and the only things that i think would be draining it are my alarm (as stupid as it sounds) or my car stereo. is there ment to be a red light on the stereo when everything is switched off. Any one any ideas?

thanks M@

Did you have this problem before with the old battery?

Try leaving the battery disconnected over night and reconect in the morning and see if it works. Rules out if it's the battery or not.

If its a new battery maybe it could be an alternator problem which is causing it not to charge in the first place. Maybe check that. Also are you doing a lot of short journeys with the car or some longer runs? Little 1 or 2 mile runs to the shops and back are not going to help the battery but a higher speed 50 mile or so run will get it fully charged. Maybe try going on a longer run and seeing if it helps
