Immobiliser issue - no time for tax!!!

Post by diskboy3k »

Okay people, I really need some good help here as time is against me...

I've been lazy and left it too long but here is my situation:

Changed batteries in my immobiliser key fob about a month ago, now it doesn't want to turn the immobiliser off, so I cant start my engine! The red LED just flashes as normal and takes no notice of how many times I press the button on the fob and ask god for help!

My ROAD TAX RUNS OUT in 4 days! I dont want to get a fine and have it off to the scrap yard for crushing so I litterly have 4 days to get the car moving so I can MOT and TAX it!

I spoke to a guy who said £65 he will remove the immobiliser and the car will work again. Are there any other alternatives to save the immobiliser as its pretty much the only security feature on the car! I do not have the original 'Security Code' to re-assign the fob, if this is even possible to get anymore as its so old.

Car is:
1994 / M Reg
1.4
Automatic

Thank you

try opening the key again and then remove the steerin coloum cowling. gaffa tape the imobiliser chip to the transponder ring to make sure the chip/ring is still working. if the car starts now then maybe u wanna look at gaffa tapin the immbiliser chip to the outside edge of ur key. dont putit in the middle of the fob cos it won work there. has to be on the left or right hand side edge of the key so it runs parrallel ova the transponder ring.

ok i'm guessing this is an issue with the anti theft alarm system becuase standard corsas do'nt have fobs and pre 95 corsas didn't have immobilisers unless they had the anti theft alarm system.

Is the red LED you mentioned the one on the hazard light switch?

when the batteries go you have to reprogram the fob, it takes seconds and costs nothing.

1. put key in ignition
2. turn key to position 2 (do not start)
3. press lock and unlock buttons on key fob
the central lockin should lock and unlock and hey presto fixed

JarJar I'll have to read over your post a couple more times as I'm a bit confused!

I've taken a photo of my keys to show you guys, today was so... urgh! I went to Vauxhall and a few others for help. Vauxhall do give out codes for £25 but apparantly this type of Immobiliser is no longer, as in the company went bankrupt. Also that the code wouldnt work as its not a standard immobiliser??

I could buy a few parts which would cost a couple hundred, which is bad!

Hopefully attacthing this photo may help give insight into what type of system I have.

As a temp repair to get you outta the poo, follow the wires back from the flashing LED and it will come to a small black box. There will be a number of wires in a block connector going into the unit. Remove that wiring block so you have the immobilizer control module in your hand. Take the top off (usually with 4-8 small screws) and you will see 2 (quite large) wires in there. Take the two large wire connecters off and join them together. This will bypass the immobilizer, as said for a temp repair, untill you can afford to get it sorted prop....

OK so its an aftermarket immobiliser and the company that makes it is no more.
Unless you can find a manual for that explains how to reprogram the fobs the chances of getting it fixed is slim.
I would remove it and fit a new one or just get a big steering lock
