sri playing up!!!!!

Post by ste372 »

hi

im new to this club and own a 1995 corsa sri 8v.

2day the engine management light came on and went straight back off. there was no power, jerking and 'pinking' quite badly. it then broke down altogether and the rac was called. they were no help wotsoeva. the guy mentioned something about the ecu, fuel pump relay or the connecting wires????

has anyone had similar problems and if so what were the culprits?

thanks for any help.

yes mate had some problem, my fuel pump relay burnt out coz it got wet, they little black box, rectangular shape, either located behind the battery tray or near the washer bottle. mine was near the washer bottle and wen it rained the bulk but got wet and burnt the resistor out. I could drive but then it will wouldflash on and off so fast like 10 times a second. Car would attempt to start but never fired up. I put a jump pack on the car and started havin smoke come from it so i knew it was that. however they are only a gm part, it cost me £35 + vat from vaux. gd luck mate.

traced the problem to the crankshaft sensor. something has been taking massive chunks outta the wire (alternator) dodgey repair with tape by some idiot hasnt worked properly so signal breaking down in hot conditions new sensor on order!

yh was quite easy when you thought about it logically. there was no fuel going to injectors when light came on so obvi check what is stopping this on this occasion crank shaft sensor was at fault porblem all sorted now enjoying the sri's sweet handling!
