Hi all, my corsa is a 1.4 8valve x14sz ........after reading through some back issues of total vauxhall..i found in one section of the magazine (rolling road day) ..there was a guy who had a 1.4 8 valve spi astra(i think it was a c14 nz )..he fitted a c16nz inlet manifold....a c18nz fuel injector and a c16nz throttle body ...he was up on power somthing like 17bhp !!!!
he also had a panel filter and sportex straight through exhasut!!!! so it made good power gains over standard!!! ...i was wondering ..could i get the inlet manifold ,fuel injector and throttle body from an 8 valve spi ...1.6 ,1.8 or 2.0 ?????..would the fit my car???? and if so ..is it possible for me to do the job myself ... as in ..is it a spanner job ???? cheers in advance maters

hmm...an interesting theory. My mum had the same engine in her astra, and whilst i was pulling it apart i was gandering over improvements. If the 1.6 TB and injector will fit straight on, then yes, you should be able to make that work...but, you may need to run the 1.6 ECU as well, else it may overfuel quite a bit. or take the complete opposite direction and run uber lean.
That engine really isnt brilliant for tuning, and tbh...its not really worth it. the manifold comes off pretty easy, but taking the TB off will bea pain, as the gap is tiny between that and the plenum.
IMO, wait a bit and get yourself either the MPI 1.4, an x14xe, or put the 1.6 8v nova GSi engine in - these are great engines!

I C, I C ......i did think about the fueling and weather id have to have it set up ........i know that the engine isnt very good for tuning at all ..but when i bought the car i never knew this(1st car) .. my only opinion of this engine now is ... its tough as old boots and its the same with all the old 8 valve engines...simple ...i do loads of maintenance on it nd its in really good nick and my friend has a x14xe and his is standard ..mines quicker off the line tho ...its just in high in the power band where it starts to get me ....i have a kent cam and sportex through system and k&n induction kit ........i have the money to get a bigger and better car with a better engine i jst wanted 2 c if it could be done without to much trouble ....as its my first car i want to do some of my own work to it ..as its an easy engine to work on ...i may get some of theses parts and try it out 2 c how it is ??? I have the money to do an c20XE/c20ne conversion....i just dont know where id get it done ...the mounting of the engine isnt to difficult ..its the wiring and driveshaft bits that are difficult ....my dream car is a cav gsi ....anyone got one ??? ha ha
