air mass meter and Hello!

Post by Gilbretto »

First post here so big hello to all on the forum.

Had a diagnostic test on the corsa today and they said that the air mass meter needed replacing.

Don't want to pay the £80 they are asking for so had a check on ebay and saw one for £29 here - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-VAUXHALL-AIR- ... 240%3A1308

Firstly, for this part, is it ok to buy cheap replacements like the above off ebay? There were a few for £40-50, would their be any real difference?

And secondly, is the fitting simple enough? As far as i've read, its a simple matter of removing two screws, unplugging, and dropping the new one in. That in its self is easy enough, but i was wondering if the meter is accessible or would i need to be removing other parts to gain access?

Hope you guys can help?

Cheers,

Chris.

Try and get an original Bosch air flow meter. You'll find that these will be more exspensive but you pay for what you get.
I put a cheap replacement (aftermarket) on mine and just made the car beheave undriveablely worse. So thats my advice.
(with the bosch unit I've assumed it's a 1997 - 2000 Corsa with an 1.0 or 1.2 engine?) other engines may have an different make but look at your current one)

It's really easy to replace and anyone will be able to do this. Just a case of clipping off the old and clipping on the new.

Thanks for the reply.

The car is a 99 1.0 .

Where would the best place be for me to buy a Bosch air flow meter? Ebay?
