few probs with 1.2 8v

Post by Root »

1- It's very juddery/shaky on start the motor, shakes pretty violently...until the engine is warmed up a few mins later.

The other day I ran the car with no water in coolant chamber so that f**k things a little bit...lots of mayo on filler cap (hope there's no damage to head)
and that's one problem.

Another is:
2- Erm, just small one, light has gone out behind petrol gauge...I want to replace these lights either with LEDs or just fitting a GTE digital dash.
My dad says I can't have a GTE digital dash in there because I don't have a digital speedometer...I said I can get one? He says "nah, it won't work with your gearbox"...my car is 1.2 8v corsa, p reg...why won't it work?

cheers

it wont be straight fit but i think if u cut the wiring harness for the dials and solder em up the right way it will work, but the GTE clocks require some fibreglass modification to fit the corsa dome and if ur not good at fibreglassin it will probs look bodge tbh. best best is to just pay £10 and get led dial kit. make sure it has 10t bulbs and not just the 509t bulbs as i did this and the main dials arnt illuminated but oil, eml, high beams etc are now green when they come on! lol

hi m8 i had this problem with my l reg 1.2 8 valve ( before the axle went lol) i left it standing for a week or 2 while sorting the axle and the brakes but when i started it up i had puffs of white smoke coming from it. stripped it down and the head gasket had gone , best bet is to take it to a garage have them check it out

Why did you not have any water in the engine, the engine can overheat very quickly and cause seriuos damage if ran with no water.

mayo under the oil cap is normal if you do lots of short jurneys, clean out all the mayo and change the oil and go for a long motor way drive if you have mayo after that then you probably got head gasket failure.

juddery start up how old is the oil/plugs
check temp sensor on inlet manifold, not temp sender for the dial on the dash that is different

I have a 1.2 8v Preg it has an electric driven speedo, if your speedo starts at 10mph then its cable diven if it starts at 0mph it electric.
Here is a tutorial of how to make a GTE clocks go in a corsa

yeh mayo type stuff is quite normal for under the oil cap...its just where the steam condenses and causes a build up..just clean it off.
