1.0 12v engine to 1.6 16v from running car
hi, i posted a few months ago about an on gonig oil leak that is gonig to be costly to fix, and still with this problem and many oils later lol, am come to the point where id need to get another engine, so was thinking of buying a 1.6 sport and transplanting everything over to my existing car, should the 1.6 engine go stright into my 1.0 12v CLUB chassis with normnal mounting points for engine, gearbox, shafts, ecu etc and wiring loom and the like, and also wanting to fit the air-con, elec windows, elec mirrors and rear discs if the sport has them, so would there be any initial problems of doing all of this, bearing in mind ive heard that for most things the option is there for all these to go in as the chassis are basically the same, just different specs for them duifferent models, thanks andy

in short buddy sell your car for scrap and buy another if thats what your planning. it would be far too much trouble and wouldnt be cheap, you might save your self a few quid doing it your self, but your gonna have a whole world of problems to deal with. i used to work for vaux as a technician and i wouldn't even do it .

I've been told that the 1.0ltr wiring is completely different so you would have to rewire it all. (eventually i'm going to attempt a 2.0ltr conversion myself on my 1.0ltr, but aint got the space or money at the moment!)
Your car looks good, i wouldn't bother scrapping it.
From what i'm aware of the 1.6 doesn't have rear discs. Don't think any of the corsa's do as standard!
The electric windows and mirrors aren't difficult to fit. I've done these. Themost difficult bit is wiring them properl into the fusebox. (That's if you leave the dash in as you do it!)
I agree the ar would look better if you can afford to lower it! Paint work look good!
Hope this helps.
