Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
Hey everyone I have 1998 S Reg 1.0L Corsa B and when I was driving along the dual carriageway when my car cut out while i was doing 70mph but slowing down without foot on accelerator but no sign of the engine management ligh coming ont.
Since then I've tested it while outside my house and when I rev the engine so it would heat up to around 90-95 celsius and release my foot it would settle but judder where it was revving to low then eventually stall.
I've changed the engine temperature sensor and the spark plugs yet still no luck. I've went to do the paper clip test but as im missing the vital pin 6 I can't do it. I have a feeling it might be the engine coolant temperature sensor but what I've read about other peoples problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
do you find it hard to start when the engine is hot?
sounds like same issue i had was crank sensor but it also could be the ICV
and cant do the paperclip test on the 1.0i 12v sorry!
best getting it on a diagnostic machine

Yea I can't start it for about another 5mins or so until it's cooled down a bit but it won't last long before it stalls again. the longer i leave it to cool down the better my car will react.

Re: Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
So is it the crank shaft sensor or just the crank sensor or are they both the same?

Re: Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
Thanks for helping me find out what was wrong with my car. I bought a crank sensor for £28 but got a mechanic to fit it for £15 so I was happy with it especially as my car no longer has the problem and idles properly.

Re: Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
I've got this same prob with the car stalling and not starting for 20 - 30 mins.
I've ordered a new the crank sensor and it should arive in the post soon.
I know that their located down the back of the engine near the starter - is that right?
Does anyone know the type of spanner or socket (and size) as someone told me it could be a torx drive and about 10 or 12mm.
Any help would be much appreciated - Cheers.

Re: Car Cutting Out When Idle & Hot
Hi There
I also had the same problem,Corsa 1.3i. i would travel as normal and then a couple of kilometers later the car would cut out, wait a while(20-30min) then the car would run again till is hot then same thing. it happened a lot on warm days.
The only thing i replaced was my Fuel pump located in the fuel tank.
