Hey all,
Just changed the rear wheel bearing on a 1.0 Corsa B. When I tighten the hub nut up, its locking the drum and cannot be turned - The shoes were completly slackened off so I know there not catching.
After google searching I read somewhere to tighten to 175nm then slacken, then make it finger tight - I did this and found the hub nut would get to a certain 'finger tightness' then go loose, like when you over tighten a pop bottle cap. Is this right? I test drove the car afterwards and all felt fine so I was happy, Just went to tighten the shoes (The adjuster hasnt got them as good as Id like) and I found a slight bit of play when I did the mot test 'wobble' - This has p1ssed me off because Im changing it due to it failing the mot
Can anyone help?

Sounds like you may have stripped the threads on that hub, take it off and check it out.

Re: URGANT HELP Wheel bearing
Well the bearing looked nearly new, but I guess it failed mot due to the threads on the stub axle - The bearing wouldnt tighten enough, even after I fit a new bearing to be on the safe side.
I need a new hub nut now but can someone confirm the torque setting? I thought it was 175nm then slacken, then hand tight
