Throttle Potentiometer sensor (Low voltage)

Post by MattCheetham »

Hey, new to the boards so was wondering if you guys can help me out.

Just got a Corsa B and the engine management light started coming on periodically and over the course of a day is now on permanently.

I did the paperclip test and it is showing error code 22 (Throttle potentiometer sensor - low voltage). While im out and about driving the car is sort of chugging, as if i was stomping up and down on the accelerator violently i guess. Its progressively getting worse as i noticed it doing it in 5th gear on the motorway today.

Im guessing this is due to the TPS. I would take a look at the TPS but im not sure where it is or what im looking for. Ive also been told to take a look at the EGR valve and give it a clean out but once again, i dont know where it is!

Appreciate any help,
Cheers

Ye get the TPS replaced I don't think it will be an expensive part although if you go to vauxhall it might be expensive.

The TPS is on the throttle body need to know what engine you have to give an accurate description, but you will need to remove the air box from that sits on top of the throttle body and the TPS is a small plastic thing that has wires plugged into it.

Its always worth taking the EGR out and cleaning them as they can stick open and cause problems, the problem is only at low revs when it is supposed to closed but gets stuck open.

Thanks. Wasn't entirely sure where to find the engine number but I found this
: C12NZ 19 611463 << that's on the front of the engine.

Think I've found the TPS so I'll have a go at that now but got no idea where the EGR is!

Thats a C12NZ its a good engine a bit slow but solid.

here is a picture of the TPS its on the right hand side of the throttle body

As for the EGR that engine doesn't have one so don't worry about it.
