Project DTM

Post by mobiius »

Well I think i've started doing enough to the B to start a project thread.

First i'll show some pics of what it was like when I got it...
Image
Image

I hated that spoiler! lol The first thing I did was to remove it! (it's finally been sold on ebay for £80. Nice.

This is the car without the spoiler...
Image
Image

Much better! Next I wanted a new bonnet. I didn't really like the huuuuuuuge evo style holes in the one I had! So thanks to Dantheman I got this...
Image

A non modified bonnet which will do until I get a nice fibreglass/carbon one.

Now that the car looked at least a small bit decent, I saw a set of alloys on ebay for a cheap cheap price! I'd be stupid not to get them for the £46 I won them for!
Here they are...
Image

Well, they were £46 for a reason! Two tyres were bald, one had an unrepairable puncture and the last one the tyre walls were split to the cords. :( Not good. So off to North East Tyres & Exhausts for some new rubber! Brand new Toyo Proxes T1R's...
Image

Sorted. Here they are on the car..
Image

Next on my list (after Dantheman showing them to me!) was a set of Carbon DTM wing mirrors from ebay. (which incidentally were delivered the day after I bought them! Result!)
Here they are after I took them out the box, and fitted the mounting plates...
Image

It didn't take me long to fit them to the car, (which means Dan, your mirrors are available now!)
Lets see them fitted...
Image
Image

Coolio Geordio!

Well, I thought, since I'm out here with a cordless screwdriver, I'll just take things off.
So one thing led to another and the next thing I know, I've removed the A pillar plastics, the sun visors, the glove box, the right upper and lower door card, an electric door lock solenoid (which I never knew was there!)
This is the newly stripped door. :)
Image

Next on the list, (which I'm ordering right now!) is a new front strut brace, and a new sealed air filter and cold air feed with a set of lowering coilovers being ordered within the next 3/4 weeks.

What do y'all think so far?

Nice :)
I agree with you taking off that huge spoiler, you going to put the GSI spoiler on?
Everything is pretty much spot-on and new air filter and feed sounds good. What about racing seats?

Indeed I am going to put a GSI spoiler on. It's sitting in my spare room waiting to be sprayed and fitted!

And I'm deffo going to get a racing seat. I saw a nice Corbeau Forza Sport from Halfords for £117. Apparently, the mounting kits are almost as expensive so I gotta wait a few months.

Anyway, I kinda got a bit too excited on ebay and bought this from ebay...
Image

Now I just gotta get the boss kit from somewhere.

Later today, I'll strip the rest of the car before I got to Peel tonight. Photos to appear later.

First I'd need the money! But I plan to get a different bodykit 'cos I need something I can fit an adjustable carbon splitter and canards to without it looking like an explosion in a halfords parts bin!

I just want something a bit more racing and a bit less tacky.

Nah, black ones would not look DTM at all, check their pics out, they're all vinal'd up with the team livery on them!

But it seems that I'm not actually going DTM at all! They only use saloon cars so I'm going BTCC style instead as they use hot hatches. There's a few nice civics out there and they're body shape is 'similar' to the corsa so I'm using them for inspiration. I might even have found a use for that spoiler on the Mazda!
