tracking / wheel balance? :S

Post by sam_sport »

basicallly ive ust lowered my car 40 mm and ive put some alloys on, and when i reach 40 mph the steering wheel would rattle side to side but as ive drove it the speed at which it rattles has moved upto 50,and for the longer i drive the smoother the steering wheel seems to become? :?
any ideas and help welcome!

thank you in advance!

So your saying steering wheel used to shake at 40mph you lowered the car now it shakes at 50mph

Your wheels need balancing the steering wheel shakes with unbalanced wheels at certain speeds because the suspension finds its natuaral frequency, if you have altered the suspension you have changed the natural frequency and that is why it no shakes at 50mph.

Don't know ive only had mine balanced when ive had new tryes and the price was included.
Shouldn't cost more than £5 per wheel

It also depends on whether your alloys are buckled as that could through the balancing off and cause wobbling.
