First Car..

Post by iTonehh »

I have recently been given an M reg Corsa 1.5 Merit, and after looking at this forum I discovered that it was running a poor 50bhp, now with it being a flat Diesel it's obviously not that powerful, I was wondering if I managed to get the turbo from a 1.5 TD Corsa B, if it would be a simple bolt on job, or if it would require extra work, as it's my first car I'd obviously like to keep it a while, and despite it's age it's only done 54k miles, so was wondering if there are any other good/cheap ways of boosting the power a little, as I don't really want to be selling it to try and find a low mileage 1.2sxi or 1.4sri for a few years yet, any help appreciated.

just little things will help mate

aftermarket air filter/drilled air box , give it a service, aftermarket exhaust, induction kit,

hallfords should have some gear

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... pag%7C%7C1
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Could you tell me what you mean by a drilled air box? And yeah I was debating on an air filter and induction kit, however I've been told that in a diesel the induction kit will just suck in hot air from the engine bay and decrease it's performance.

Just wondering what the benefits of this are? More air getting into the engine thus a little more BHP? And I'm guessing this isn't dangerous to the engine in anyway?

is that a turbo diesel?

and yea drilling the air box jst makes it louder and roar more at higher revs.

if u want to improve performance either get a induction kit or a KnN panel filter for the standard box

Nah, just a flat diesel. :( Looking to dump in a TD engine after I've had the car a few years, and stripped the whole thing down and made the chassis a bit stronger.

Edit: The pic was taken from a car on Ebay, maybe why you think it's a TD.

I used to think Diesels were slow and sluggish, but after hearing what's possible with the 1.5TD it has totally changed my opinion on them.

I think I'd probably consult either this forum or the VxON forums before I did anything, as I'd know nothing about tuning the boost power etc, however with a little bit of a helping hand from some of the nice chaps here and there I'm sure it'd be a lot easier than trying to do it myself. :)

if ur drilling ur airbox ALWAYS drill the side facing away from the engine or else u get all the poo goin in from off the engine and the filter will clog quicker and also start getting through into the engine
