Very recently had a new handbrake cable fitted. Pretty much immediately afterwards, a horrible scraping sound started coming from the back (left?) of my car, increasing in frequency as the car goes faster. Kind of sounds like a hacksaw. Do you reckon it's related to something the mechanic might have done whilst fitting the new handbrake cable? Also, everything on the car is 'factory' or standard, nothing in the way of external modifications.
Any ideas would be greatly received, cheers.

Re: Scraping noise
Noises r very disconcerting i know, I f you have any mehanical or practical knowledge whip the wheel off and the drum face off and check the shoes , also check the nuts for the handbrake cable 2 ..if not take it back to the mechanic and explain your problem..........personaly i have not experienced this noise on my car but my mate had a similar one .....it turned out to be a wheel bearing...so the handbrake could be a coincidence ?? !!!1 good luck mate !!
Matt Neal for the championship ....woo off to thruxton next sunday !!!

Re: Scraping noise
turns out that it was something to do with the handbrake that he recently fitted. there was some spring loose or something, one of his n00bs/apprentices must have done the job or something all sorted now though, cheers.
