I need some advice, my car has started smoking and am 100% sure either head gasket or timing chain cover gasket is gone. Geting water in oil and white smoke etc. I can get the gaskets and stuff required for about £70 and i know someone who is pretty handy with a spanner. Problem is i dont know whether to just scrap the engine and replace as you can pick engines up for about £200.
Reason for this is i dont know whether the head is gonna need skimming etc. and might end up costing same as replacement engine.
My engine code is a x10xe, just after opinions and advice really???
Cheers in advance, Luke

Yeah if you know someone who ould give you a hand for cheap then just get it fixed ...YET.....if you can pick up an engine for cheap ....consider your spanner handy mate to help you drop the 1.6 in lol ......either way sounds a good result for ya !!!
