its easier to get the engine in and running on the carbs! plus, i wont have an inlet and all that stuff...i'm basicly getting the long motor.

its all ready, just piping and small things like that. i have got 2 weeks off at the end of the month...doing it then! :)

sure hope so! going to anglesey...and also got to go visit other places. 500mile of relatively flat driving below 4500rpm. then after that...an oil change and give it some stick here and there...then after another 500, change again and push as normal! :)

Mate ..fair play to ya ..the amount of work you put into that 8 valve engine was painstaking.....but who could turn down an XE ...??..what is happening with the 8 valve motor???..what BHP were you pushing out of that 130 lump after you rebuilt it ?? ...surley you were on 150 anyway ,with mods ???

i didnt rebuild it...thats why i am getting the XE, because its costing about £100 more than a rebuild on the 8v would have cost. But now im getting the XE, i have been offered a free XE bottom end...which has been rebuilt and not run because a friend just wants rid! So am thinking about keeping the 8v head and manifold, and getting another set of R1's and ignition system and running it in another car, with various elements perfected after the experience of this engine.

Anyways...the XE i am getting is going in the GSi at the end of the month, and i will have to work out what to do wit the head off the 8v, as its worth quite a bit tbh!

i dnt think ive ever drove over 4500rpm so i think i cld run ur car in easy lol

i need to get over 2000rpm in the td just for the turbo to kick in :shock:

i normally drive eco lol

i want to build a competition car, but putting a 2.0 in would put me well out of class, so it would be a 1400 or 1600 tbh. the head is worth £300 to me, and im gonna need the money!

hehe, definitely.

- £575 for engine
- £200 for new inlet

And thats just bits i have atm.

i have got oil, various little bolts, exhaust manifold welding and i'm sure other things to pay for as well...it certainly tots up. I'm doing everything properly though, not cutting any corners. I'm sure it could be done for less, but i aint gonna risk it!

well, i treated it to a wash and gave it a polish with some poorboys products that a friend has got. am most definitely impressed with the results...looks stunning.

Got a few photos...not the best location but i didnt have time to get to a properly decent one im afraid.
