Ivheard on here than 2500 - 2800 rpmis the best the change up at but im just wondering what is the most economical. Like when im low on petrol i tend 2 change up at about 2k revs but the engine seems 2 strugle in the new gear. Now i know this will damage the engine over time but im also wondering if its actually gonna make the fuel problem worse. Like would i get a higher mpg the lower i change up or is 2.5k the optimum revs?
Dont know if it matters but ive got a 1.2 16 valve engine that redlines at 6k

Optimal would be just before the torque curve flattens out. You can't go by what other people say as different sized engines will have different power bands. It's up to you to find out when it's best to change.
If the car struggles in a gear then you are using the wrong one, drop her down.

True but dosent more rpm = more fuel used tho? So the lower the rpm the less fuel used?

Yes lower revs = less fuel, but if you aren't in the correct gear and it struggles then the opposite will occur. You don't need to look at the rev counter to know when to change gear, you should know by the sound of the engine.
