Hi again every1. This is a purely random post just for future reference as i aint gonna be able to insure anything like this for a few years yet lol.
Anyway i was just wondering what possibilities there are for engine swaps in corsas....
I know theres a c20xe but these dont seem that powerful compared to a c20let? are they more drivable though or is the turbo just better all round?
Also about the c20let... most of the engines are getting pretty old now and in a few years time there gonna be pretty rare? ive hard about the z20let in the zafira vxr and vx220 turbo, would that be compatible with a corsa b and how much is it gonna cost compared to a c20let?
Also what is the difference in power between the 2 engines - can you get more hp from a z20let?
Finally what about using a non vauxhall powerplant such as the 2.0 litre turbo from a scooby? Would this fit/work and would it be a gd idea?
Just a load of random things - if anyone has some answers post back plz
Thanks in advance

Re: Engine conversion options
Now, I'm not much of a grease monkey....far from it, but Id imagine there would be some problems using a non- vauxhall engine in a vauxhall.
That being said, I'm bloody useless with engines ^_^

Re: Engine conversion options
the c20XE and the C20LET are basicaly the same apart from the turbo.
I would start with a C20XE then if in a few years you want a change convert it to a turbo. You will need to change the pistons the inlet and the exhaust.
Ive read that the Z20LET won't work in a corsa b because it is wired using a CAN-BUS system and is not compatible with any of the dash. if you rip all the wiring out of a corsa C and put it in a corsa B then maybe.
if you have then engineering skill then you can put any engine into any car you just need to manufacure your own engine mounts and drive shafts and figure out the wiring.

Re: Engine conversion options
The Z20let isn't Canbus and didn't come in the Zafira VXR, it is mainly found in astra mk4 GSi and Zafira GSI, this can be put in a corsa B as it has been done before and featured in Total Vauxhall, although would be costly. The Zafira VXR and astra VXR came with the Z20LEH and this is canbus and as said above would be a more problematic conversion but not impossible if you have enough cash! Personally i wouldn't bother. If you want turbo C20LET would be the cheapest option of the 3. Perfomance wise there probably isnt a massive difference once all said and done, Z20let would be newer though!
EDIT here is the Z20LET corsa B http://vxonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=504
