New car help!!

Post by TEB »

Hi there, Im about to buy a 1.0l Arden blue corsa b :D
Its good condition and everything looks ok on it, but theres a few areas that need abit of a clean.

I wanted to remove the rub strips, boot badges an then clean under the bonnet but iv got a few quieries :?

Iv read that the rub strips are glued on? But i dont know what i need to get them off without damaging the paintwork :meh: And also what to do if the paint has faded when i remove them :o Will T-cut work?

I was also wandering can you get the engine bay 'Steam cleaned'? cos its abit rotten under there atm.

Thanks Alot

Tom.

My mates got a corsa and he took the side strips off and found loads of stuck on glue. He used T cut and it worked fine. You may find that once you have used the T cut on that area it will look shinier than the rest of the car so you may want to T cut the whole car but it takes a while...

buy ''sticky stuff remover'' its a yellow can in halfords. its purposly for removing stuff like that . all you do is spray it on wait 5 mins and it goes like jelly , then just get a old credit/top up card to remove . then would suggest a good t-cut on car then a good polish/wax . then stand back after doing it all ( which will take you a good few hours so do it on a nice sunny day ) and you will have a good smile and more than likly get a camera out and take pics :D .

Do you not think after 9 years the paint work might have faded and leave a "Halo" around where the strips have been?

Thanks for your advice!!

i de-stipped a fiesta with my mate a few weeks ago & i found one of the easy ways is too heat them up with a hair dryer whilst taking them off works a treat, i use that trick all the time now lol then just polish it up a lil bit :)
