tuning advice first timer

Post by scott_higgins »

hi guys

This is my first post so take it easy lol. I have 1.2i 8v LS 5dr C12NZ engine i have read a few threads regarding tuning and that not much in way of performance gains can be made without having to swap the engine out.

What i did read and interested me was to install the following: 1400 injector, C16NZ Inlet manifold, C18NZ Throttle body and a cam of nova SR 1.4.

I have alread instaled a cone filter and looking at exhausts.

I know from previous threads that power gains aint going to be huge but with second hand parts cheapish i was just wondering if the above would work and if any further mods would be needed with this set up? I dont want to swap the engine out i just want to fiddle about with the little 1.2 to keep me busy

Thanks

Your right there isn't much point trying to get more power out of a C12NZ its a whole lot cheaper and easier to just swap the enigne.

For the best advice you want to ask on a Nova forum I remember reading a thread a while ago on http://www.pngclub.com

That list of mods would give a some cheap gains but I think the cam would be the one to give the most difference.

As for your cone filter they are overated and they cost loads, the standard box isnt very restrictive so it won't make a difference untill you do some major modding. Make sure you have a cold air feed as most people forget this and then wonder why they have flatspots/pinking.

As for the exhaust the only thing you can do to get some more power is remove the CAT but then you get into trouble with Mr MOT man. A 4-2-1 manifold would help things but they are very expensive.

Cheers for the reply,

the cold air feed is there waiting to be installed when i get home (working away).

As for the cam, will this be a straight forward swap or will there be a bit more to it?

thanks much appreciated
