LED Wire Up

Hey Guys and gals, i have recently been given 2 sets of LED strips, now i want to put them in my footwells, i would like them to come on when the door is open and also be able to turn them on and off via a switch, now im not fully sure yet how im going to wire it, any ideas anyone? maybe uv got a better place for them or you can help with the wiring? this is how i think i would do it Image

Yea the way you have done it there is the in car switch will decide if they come on when the door opens.

only way i can think of it is theres a 2 way switch you can get from maplin with 3 terminals power in and 2 power outs so 1 power out would go to the door switch and the other power out would be perm and if you wanna be able to kill it all together you would have to put another lil switch on the perm one.

personally to make them come on when the door opens i would wire the to the interior light and change the interior bulb to the same colour as the led strips

With mine, iv got 5 interior led's running off my top bulb, iv got 1 in each footwell, 1 under each driver seat, and 1 in the boot (Dont have a boot light ;) )
and all i used is standard 12v doorbell wire and wired it to the interior light so i can use the switch that functions the interior light and then they also come on when you open the door, although i need to buy some blue ones now and replace the red ones, stupid new headunit cant change colours ;)
