CD Players & Speakers and Cut Wires!

Post by Jippers »

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to boards...first post new.. a newb..pleb.. someone who doesn't know alot and needs a bit of help!!

A few months back we bought a Corsa LS N Reg of someone we knew...ironically..the someone we knew pretty much done one on us with the car after several problems startewd to appear shortly after taking it on.

All that being said..much of the problems are almost sorted...minus one..

We have no sound coming to any of the speakers in the car..and it would seem at one point they had their own speakers in the back and replaced the cassette player with an acoustic solutions cd player.

Now hand me a wrench and I'm happy..but electrics aren't my area beyond wiring up a plug really..

I've had the cd player out and had a look at the wiring.. it looks to have been cut..and I may be guessing required at some point..plus there are the red and yellow jack in points.. at least I think they're jack in points...hence why I'm begging for help.

Can I assume they've rewired it for sub woofers etc? and is it possible to require to go back to the original speakers?

I've included two images to give you idea of the state it's in.. the tape is covering more cut wires.

Thanks for any help in advance!!

Is it possible to wire the cut wires into a new plug (connection block) and is there a specific way in which it needs to be done?

Is the head unit still in the car? If it is i would rip it out, get a new one and whilst ya on buy a new vauxhall connection block, anyone in the right shop will be able to sort ya out. It looks like they have done it so that all the speakers are possibly amped up!

I don't quite want to rip the dash out..but..will if I have to..

With regards to the head unit...

I will be thick here...I know more about what makes a helicopter tick than a car roll...

Head Block...as in original cassette.. or the large fuse block set?

Feel free to simplify as much as possible..

There isn't a simple way to fix this is there?

the head unit is the radio/cassette player itself or the same name can be given to a radio/CD player if the original has been replaced

from the pics it does look as tho they originally had a sub in the car (those red and white plugs relay back to a sub)

sorry but thts all i know lol

good luck

That would tie in with two large holes in the back of the car in the boot cover...

two holes don't make any sound lol

It's frustrating..need the speakers for the kids, my 4 and a 2 year old.. they like music..proves to be a good distraction for them...

can anyone save me? :D

Am still trying to work it out properly as the pictures is annoying me ha ha i think the best advice i could give would be to have a look in the yellow pages and look for a car audio specialist, get some advice, i still think it is an easy fix just hard to tell on the pictures! Sorry i cant help anymore fella!

I can take better pictures but I think I may go with an earlier suggestion unless anyone can tell me otherwise

If I can wire in a new head unit I'll be happy, but I need to figure out this wiring before anything else..

Thanks so far guys
