Upgrade Speakers !! Need Help

Hey ppl

Need some help

Looking to upgrade the speakers in my 1999 vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi.. Im on a budget, just want to improve the overall sound quality (standard speakers are rubbish)
I have been looking at these hope you can help me, are these decent or not, everything i have looked at is fli, which i have been told is the budget speakers made by Vibe....

For the front doors i looking at;

Are these any good, firstly i will only be buying the speakers and 6x9's... Then when i get some more money i will be getting the sub and amp.. Are these any good have i choosen the right set up... i don't really understand what to look at and all this rms and peak power... and i really don't understand amps and all that... would the amp i looking at power the sub and speakers and 6x9... or even would the speakers and 6x9's be ok to leave powered by the headunit which is a sony xplod... errrm not sure on model have 4x50w outputs thou... althou this might be changing to cd / dvd player (not sure on make) with 7inch touch screen and i belive it has 4x65w outputs.

right then mate first problem.... front speakers need to be 13 cm and you need these adapters....

second dont just buy the first ones u come 2. best bet is to go to your local halfords, you can have a good look at everything and listen to them, aslo the staff usually no wot there on about.

next all this technical info can be confusing

rms- the higher this is the more powerful the speaker is, pritty sure mine are 52 or sumit and the standardones will probly be about 25.
but you also get this on ur head unit.

so basicly if you head unit is 50 rms the most it can really power is a speaker with 50 rms.... simple

peak power- the maximum amount of power before you damage it...simple

get ur self to halfords or some where you can check stuff out and get sum info....

Cheers for that, i got told doors would take 16's but would need spacers because of the speaker magnets being bigger on after market stuff.. Ok guess i will have to find some smaller speakers now..

i have been into halfords that is where i originally got told about fli hadn't herd of them befor that.. chap at halfords recomended for my price range the fli, fusion or some other weird brand (can't remember name but power ratings where rubbish)... the fli and fusion didn't have much of a difference in rms and peak power between the speakers or 6x9's... So really it's about brand name between them.. Brand doesn't really bother me thou.

I really just want to know if anyone else has used fli and what they think of them..

This isn't true, you do need the adaptors listed from Halfords to run 165mm speakers though. And you may, depending on the speakers, I did, need to cut out some of the metal behind the rear of the speaker to fit the larger magnet, however this is extremely easy to do with a hacksaw. I am running Vibe SEK60's with the separate tweeters in-place of the stock speakers, it all works very well, but beware that there quite a lot of cutting needed to get everything to fit proper.

you can get 17cm speakers in your doors and you can get 17cm adapters like those ones i sed before, but i havent used them and dont no how hard it wud be cos they wud need new holes and that drillin.

they dnt i was using some 17cm adapters they screw into where the origional one screws to, then you screw the speaker onto the adapter using the pre drilled holes

I really just want to know if anyone else has used fli and what they think of them..

I have FLI 6x9's. I think they are perfectly adequate. Had them at least 6 years.

Well I have brought my fli 6x9's and some high grade speaker wire, going to put them in at weekend... Waiting for halfords to get me the spacers for doors then door speakers will go in..

Just hope the fli are decent....
