no mot... fine?

hey guys, what would happen if i were pulled over and my mot is nearly 2 weeks overdue?? i heard its just a 30 quid fine?

think it will be more than £30 mate, if you think about it your insurence is ony valide if you have a valide mot certificate . so basicly you have no mot and therefore no insurence which i'm pritty sure they an impound yor car for.

just looked it up mate and you'll be looking at a 1000 fine unless you have a pre- arranged MOT test booked and your actually only driving to the test centre

yea its pretty serious as your basically driving an illegal vehicle thats unsafe on the road

i think if they pull you over with no mot then ur insurance is invalid and they could inpound ur car and 6 points coz it wil be classed as driving with no insurance

police can sieze your car which is expensive as they charge u for the recovery of it
then u have to pay to get it back

plus a fine for no MOT or insurance + penalty points

and if u dont get it sorted in 7 days they crush it

can take your car. a fine and could get 6 points if they go down the no insurance route (no insurance is minimum 6 points). However, that said i got pulled over with no MOT (i simple forgot and it was about a week over due). They let me off even let me drive away and i got the test booked within a few days and got it done.


My Suggestion book it fast and hope you dont get pulled. Or book it and stop driving it.

Just for the sake of discussion, i read in another forum that if you have no mot you're still technically insured. your insurance is only invalid if the insurance company find out you dont have an mot, and they can then cancel your policy. if you were to crash, apparently the insurance company still has to pay if they have covered you but they will then take legal action to recover the money from you. this having nothing to do with your license so no points or anything. anybody else ever heard this?

That's incorrect. It clearly states on every policy that your insurance is only valid if your vehicle is fit for purpose and is fully legal (Or however it phrases it). Having no MoT means your vehicle is not fit for purpose and your policy is invalid. They can however refuse to pay out in the event of an accident, and take you to court for fraud.

You have to bear in mind that insurance companies don't want to pay out, so anything they can use against you they will, and if they can get more money out of you by taking you to court you can bet your ass they will.

forget insurance company paying out id be more worried at the minimum of 6 points for no insurance when they say you wasn't insured to drive the vehicle without an MOT.
