Physical size of engines?

Post by mt2man »

Hey i was just wondering if anyone knew how much difference there was in the physical size of vauxhall engines?

Bassically i have a 1.2 8v X12SZ corsa b engine spare and was wondering if i were to make a custom subframe to fit into a Classic Mini would i be able to easy swap the engine to a 1.6 16v C16XE for example?

I know people do this conversion alot in Corsa's etc but they have more room in the engine bay and no bracing bars or anything in the way lol.

Many thanks Jack

Also, are the engine mounts in the same places?

are you wanting to put a 1.6 in your corsa ? if yes then yer you can but you will need to change everythink like lume, ecu's etc . you will also have to buy new engine mounts to put the 1.6 on (ebay) . when you say bracing ? do you mean strut braces ? ( you can easily remove these ,

Sorry if my first comment didnt make much sense, but what i want to do is use the 1.2 8v engine, and make a subframe which holds it in place which will fit into a classic mini, so id be running a vauxhall engine in the mini.
But what i want to know is wheter the engine mounts are in the same places for the 1.2 8v and the 1.6 8 or 16v engines?
And wheter the engines are actually the same size, or if the 1.6 is physically alot bigger than the 1.2?

I dont really know how to explain it, but i want to use the 1.2 as a kind of template or mock up engine ready for when i get a 1.6 at a later date, and i dont want to have built a subframe to fit the 1.2 and find out the 1.6 is alot bigger and wont fit in the frame, if that makes any sense haha.

Id love a hayabusa engine but unfortunatly i dont have that kind of money at the moment :P haha.
