When you say you mapped it do you mean you checked the ECU through the OBD port or did you try and remap it??

Hmm strange it shouldn't slip, but its worth having a look and realining the timing marks as to me this sounds a timing issue, but I found this, most GSi's have usually be thrashed by a previous owner at some point n this might have happend http://www.robertjenkins.co.uk/mondeo/index.php

Sounds like the timing isn't right there, the spark plug arcing do you mean its bent if so maybe the piston is moving too high due to that knackerd cam shaft sensor probably causing this if the oxysensor is gone the air fuel mix isn't right both those are prob cause the missfire and the poor running get those solved along with checking the timing is perfect one tooth out can do catastrophic damage, but sort and check these before trying to start the engine because you'll prob cause more damage than good

New Cam Shaft Sensor

New Oxysensor

Check The Timing Marks Are Allined

checked timing and thats perfect and tentioned, the htlead had a pin hole in it and was arcing through that.. rather strange how it ran fine and 1hour later like a dog and only thing i did was waxoil the underside.. checked the fuel pump had some crap in tank cleared that but yet to see if that has helped,, checked the fuel filter but im not sure how easy it should be to blow through? any ideas? gona reset the relay also.. changed the crank sensor 4 one that i know works and the lambe sensor looks fine? read that if the clocks have been out and incorrectly fitted can cause running trouble? if it was the pump that would explain the fault codes cos there all assosiated, could it be due to neva having more thn a 5a of fuel in cos its on the drive and doesnt move maybe sucked some crap through? please someone help me its driving me mad..... soz 4 life story but want it ready 4 jan regards..

How can the piston move too high? Has the conrod stretched?

Well, that or something has got into the cylinder due to the spark plug arcing, or somethings come loose, but my cousins friend a few year back found a stretched conrod in his engine so.. :S
