headlight problem

when i turn the headlights on the front lights go out and the indicators come on,or if i flash the main beams the indicators come on, the indicators work ok but not when the sidelights are on.can someone help?

sounds to me like theres wires connected where they shouldnt be.or a short somehwere.

Has someone had the hazard flasher switch out and replaced it upside down?

Sounds like it's a bad earth problem. The headlamps need a lot of power (in relation to other lights). If the earth is broken or bad, they will suck power from anywhere they can. I.E. the indicators, side lights or just about any other item they can. Check and clean every connection to the body, especially around the headlamp area. A good test for this is to attach a wire to earth on the battery, stick it to the earth on the headlamps and switch them on. If they work, that's the problem.

I worked in a prestigious bodyshop as a panel beater, painter and auto electrician for about 10 years. This is a lot more common than you would believe! Fords are terrible for it, but it affects almost every make in some way.
