Getting car running after standing for a year?

Hi all, my first post here.

Im buying my bros L- Reg Corsa LS off him to run about in, its been standing for a year, never been started and hes left the handbrake on :(

What will i need to check and or replace to get it running again, how will i get the brakes grafting as i think its seized on!!

Drain the fuel and refresh with new.

Charge the battery/get a new one.

Take the spark plugs out and clean them, while you are there put a squirt of clean oil down the bores.

Beat the rear wheels with a sledge, sounds drastic but works. If you have alloys take them off and beat the brake drums with a rubber mallet. The drums are cast iron and can break if hit with a metal hammer.

Check the air filter is clean.

Maybe someone has some other thoughts.
