sick of trying to get mine to run just wont ave it revs but wont tick ova and backfires badly outa inlet so bad snapped inlet!!! anyway its a electrical fault and cant b arsed so all parts available off c16xe apart frome box gona put that on redtop wen i can afford one!!! times are hard! any help bout repairing mine be gratefull as you all read my cries 4 help but no1 helpes me!!! anyone got a engine 4 sale cheap? 1.6 upwards 16 or 8v regards..

rebuit engine during process i broke the tab off the inlet cam sprocket, the sprocket would not move so bought a inlet cam and sprocket from scrappy, fitted and all was great had bigger valves and skimmed and flowed, drove the car 2 month no prob wotsoever.. jacked the car up and waxoiled the underside of the car to prevent rust, lowered the car and left it, went out day after tried to start and suddenly it backfires through the inlet and wont tick over, but if revved no problems!!!! new dis plugs and ht leads, new pump and filter injectors rail!!! all new gaskets throughout, checked timing 500 times and no change as all new and if timing was out it wouldnt rev!!! plz someone help iv just lost my job, cnt afford a mechanic i rebuilt myself as i know bout cars but i cnt put my finger on it, also decat as thought cat maybe blocked! almost at breaking point realy stressed the f**k out..... someone please any suggestions and thanks 4 your reply

Have you tried changing sensors? Crankshaft sensor seems a likely place to start.

i had similar problem with mine for me it was crank sensor bought new one off ebay like 20 pound crank sensors are likely maybe ring up dealership and ask if they got any ideas you may be lucky and get a nice one on the phone lol

got a new throttlebody complete wiith idle control valve etc cleaned up and ready to go on also new crank sensor and bracket so gonna go try them and keep you guys posted,, also if sort it after the plastic inlet manifold.. someone must have one none on ebay and all you guys with new mantzel style boxes nolonger need them pm me or through this chat cheers guys

still the same!!! only thing to change is spark plugs but the ones in all spark but i dont know how well they should spark???? it will rev fine but backfire at tickover spit flaems and stalls all the time, if revved slightly sounds like a missfire but slowly disapears? new fuel rail and injectors etc leads could it be a dodgy plug? need it sorted now please guys a hand?

Try resetting the ECU after all that work.

had the battery off 24hr on charge and still no change, it just wont tickover unless throttle pressed and once above 1500rpm revs fine just wont hold a steady rev..? sparkplugs be shafted?

If it drives ok I can't see it being plugs, but no harm trying them. The revs all point towards the ICV but you say you changed it. Is it a new one?

its secondhand but came off a car that ran fine. its strange how it will rev fine, backfires on tickover but not when revved and uses alot of fuel maybe a weak spark? and its not igniting the fuel thus exsessive consumption and backfire?????

not the plugs still the same, also got no brakes for some reason? maybe the plastic inlets proppa goosed??? any1 got one for sale??????

still running like a bag o crap, could be so many things im lost!!!! its had a new head 2 mnth ago skimmed valves etc could it be a lazy lifter?? or stickking valve? someone must have some more ideas as ive replaced nearly everything it just wont idle and looses power top end and spits flames through inlet manifold!!!

Instead of spending all this money on parts that dont need changine, save up and get a mechanic mate!
