Respraying...
Ok people, need some professional help here, my car at the moment is some form of white, not 100% on which though (havent checked yet) ive been told appliance white is the safest way to go if i was to respray it myself, which is what i was going to do, (just strip it down to metal, then 2primers and 2 coats should do it?)
but just wondered if anybody had any experiance, or whether i should go for another colour? any advice would be great.

I thought about respraying mine black myself, but tbh, i thought considering how much time it would take, how long it would cost and how long im going to have the car...would it be worth it??

My business is painting cars and stripping all the paint off is the worst thing you can do! When a car is built, it goes through a series of stages to protect it from rust. If you remove this, you will have a pile of dust in a few years!
Best to only do the repairs it needs, prime them, then just rub the whole thing down with a fine grade "wet n dry" paper (I use P800 with water).

all you need to do is filler and smooth all horrible parts primer it then go over the whole car with a brilo pad then its ready for primer then paint
dnt foget to go over the whole car with ''pre paint'' it cleans all grease and dirt or anythink that will react with the paint do this before primer and then before paint etc

yh make sure u use pre paint other wise paint will just falke off

WTF prepaint. The word is primer and nothing else.

yeh it basically removes any paint particles,dust,grease etc to reduce contamination with the paint like it says above.

yes pre-paint is a cleaning agent aplied by a cloth maybe should of explained it better , i assumed people would know what it was .,

Let's recap...
After the repairs are done, you should prime them, then key the whole surface to be painted with either p800 paper & water (my prefered method) or panel wipe with a grey scratch pad (not a brillo pad). Next, clean the whole car. Then do all the masking. After that, run over the whole thing with the tack cloth. The tack cloth is a "sticky" cloth used for removing any remaining dust particles just before applying the paint.
Another small point... It's always better to remove as many bits and pieces as possible. I.E. door trims, handles, mirrors etc. This makes the masking so much easier and also looks a lot better on the finished job (IMHO).
If you do not have a dust free enviornment, or a decent spraying setup, it might be a good idea to respray a little at a time. If you paint a whole car in a dusty room, the dust will get blown up from the floor as you go along the bottom, causing dust to settle on the rest of the car. It's also a lot easier to concentrate on small areas if you are not familiar, or are not confident with painting. I hope that makes sense?....

sand with superfine pad to take the shine off the paint, primer, sand again, paint, wet and dry, lacquer.
obviously clean with panel wipe in between stages!!

If you are painting in a dusty environment spray water on the floor to keep it down.
