Aftermarket Alarm Immobiliser wiring..

Hi, just a quick question..
Fitting an alarm to a 94 corsa and know i can take the wiring for the starter/immobiliser (wire from ignition to starter motor) from the steering column but is there anywhere else i can take it from? ie loom behind glovebox? not sure which way the wire runs from the steering column to the motor and dont really wanna rip apart my steering column for alarm wiring. any help be much appreciated. also cant make sense of my haynes manual..
