TD white ring mod.

Post by samscorsa »

hi, can someone tell me what this white rind mod is and what it does exactly. has anyone got any specific power gains from doing it? im just on bout doin the white ring, not upping the fuel or the boost. but since im here, how much can u up the fuel before it fails the MOT? Cheers.

the white ring in the boost compensator part of the fuel pump. the white ring is a little nylon ring which inhibits the valve's full movement it hits the ring before getting to the top. when you remove the ring you remove the restriction.
what it does is give you the right ammount of fuel for the boost pressure, if you are upping your boost pressure you will need to remove this restriction
or you wont be taking full advantage of your new boost level.

if your not upping the boost or the fueling best to leave alone, all it will do it make your car smoke like hell when you boot it, without any real perfomance gains

as regards to MOT i belive the only test for a diesel in regards to emmisions is making sure no black smoke is comming out when started after 10 seconds of running, they dont check co2 and nox levels

alirite, thanx. so to best way to do it if the mot isnt an issue it take out the white ring and then up the boost and pressure. Then there is always a front mounted intercooler. When the fuel and boost is upped does anything have to be done with the ecu. what sort of power can u get out if the ring mod is done with the upped fuel and boost? Soz, i know its alot of questions but i dont know alot bout diesels lol. cheers.

well corsa diesels dont have an ecu the engine is mechanical so dosnt need an ecu :)
not sure on the power increase but have seen the corsa 1.5 td running around 100hp with the white ring mod, upped fueling and boost

HOWEVER....
i would not reccomend this much as i have also seen a few diesel corsa's explode due to upping the boost too much!

so be carefull

It may be small but i didnt think that the 1.5 had an intercooler, so if the astra one is tiny it'll still help.

thanks for the offer, thing is i dont actually have a TD but am thinking of getting one as a step up from my slow ass 1.2 8v. I wanted to know how much could be done to them and how much could be got out of one. Realy do wana get one.

yea i had a 1.2 8v before and even this td standard is miles faster, higher top end and way better acleration.
im aiming for 100bhp from mine while keeping the reliability of the block and the mpg
currently does 60mpg being ragged

100bhp does sound quite nice, fancy a 1.2 8v again lol. iv got the gls so its nice inside but the slowness of it isnt understandable to someone who hasnt had one. who knew that and extra 15 bhp ,that say a 106 has, would make that much difference lol. Is that 100bhp from just upping th boost, fuel, the white ring mod and the astra turbo?
dont supose you know how to get pictures on here? it keeps saying my pics are too big.
