LOUD RATTLING NOISE!!!! (Murder on the ears)

Post by LD4000 »

Hey guys..I've tried searching the web for this and finaly came across these forums =)

Had a look on here but dosent seem like anyone else has had this problem...but hopefully someone on here can help.

Long story short then:

Everytime I turn the steering wheel right just abit or even full lock it, it makes the loudest rattling noise you can image.
It dosent do it all the time when I turn the steering wheel left though...and sometimes it will happen when i'm accelerating.

It sounds like its coming from the engine but while i'm driving it feels like somethink is rattling on the inner tyre on the drivers side at the front.

But at any rate its defently at the front of the car.

So anyone get any ideas at all...lol???

Car is : Corsa B 5-dr Breeze 1998 and I've just done 112000 miles on it....lol

Thanks for any help =)

hya mate it could be a ball joint, track rod end or c.v joint. you need to jack up the front of the vehicle and shake the wheel from side to side and up and down whilst trying to see where the noise is coming from. it might be easier to see if you take off the wheel. just look to where you can see movement, it might be easier to get someone to help you so one can shake the wheel whilst the other locates the movement.

hope this helps

Hey dan

You we're right mate was the C.V joint, I took it to Kwik-fit as I had a lot of break work done there only recently, for them to tell me they wanted

£120 to fix it...=O

So off to my local garage for a £75 job instead..lol

Cheers for the suggestions though bud =)
